0x Protocol (ZRX) is an open-source infrastructure layer built on Ethereum that enables the peer-to-peer exchange of digital assets. Unlike centralized exchanges, it provides a set of smart contracts and developer tools that allow anyone to build decentralized exchange applications on top of it. The ZRX token is used for governance and for paying trading fees to market makers known as relayers. 0x Protocol has become a foundational building block in the decentralized finance ecosystem, powering numerous DEX aggregators and trading platforms across the Ethereum network.
