About Elastos

Elastos (ELA) is a blockchain-based platform designed to power a decentralized internet, often referred to as the SmartWeb. Founded by Rong Chen, it combines merged mining with Bitcoin for security and Delegated Proof of Stake for governance. Rather than relying solely on blockchain, Elastos integrates peer-to-peer networking, decentralized storage, and a decentralized identity system to enable true data ownership. Its sidechain architecture supports Ethereum compatibility, allowing developers to build scalable decentralized applications. The Cyber Republic initiative provides community-governed funding for projects building within the broader Elastos ecosystem.
