About Grin

Grin (GRIN) is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency built on the MimbleWimble blockchain protocol, designed to be lightweight and confidential. Unlike traditional blockchains, Grin has no addresses and does not record sender, receiver, or transaction amounts on-chain, keeping the blockchain compact and easy to sync. Transactions require both wallets to communicate directly online. Launched in January 2019 without an ICO, pre-mine, or fundraising, Grin follows a fair distribution model with continuous block rewards. Mining uses the Cuckoo Cycle proof-of-work algorithm, supporting both GPU and ASIC hardware across a decentralized, community-driven development ecosystem.
