About Handshake
Handshake (HNS) is a decentralized naming protocol designed to replace the traditional DNS root zone and certificate authority system. Unlike conventional domain infrastructure controlled by centralized entities, Handshake enables every network participant to validate and manage top-level domain names through a peer-to-peer blockchain. This approach reduces reliance on trusted third parties vulnerable to censorship, hacking, or corruption. Handshake aims to create a more resilient and open internet by making name ownership trustless and permissionless, offering an experimental foundation for rebuilding internet infrastructure with stronger resistance to sybil attacks and centralized control.
