About Helium

Helium HNT is a decentralized wireless network that incentivizes individuals to deploy and maintain physical connectivity infrastructure. Unlike traditional telecom networks, Helium relies on community-operated devices called Hotspots, which simultaneously provide wireless coverage and mine HNT tokens as rewards. Hotspot operators earn based on the coverage they deliver and the volume of devices connecting through their nodes. Built on its own blockchain, the network supports IoT and LoRaWAN connectivity, enabling low-power devices to transmit data across a peer-to-peer infrastructure. Helium represents a novel model where participants collectively build and own the network they use.
