About Obyte

Obyte (GBYTE) is a distributed ledger platform built on a directed acyclic graph (DAG) architecture rather than a traditional blockchain. Launched in December 2016, it eliminates miners and blocks entirely, removing risks like front-running and miner manipulation. Smart contracts are written in Oscript, a language designed to avoid common security pitfalls found in earlier platforms. Obyte supports decentralized applications, DeFi tools including discount stablecoins, self-sovereign identity, private untraceable payments, and textcoins for sending crypto via email. Its lightweight libraries also make it suitable for IoT device integration.
