About Peercoin
Peercoin (PPC) is one of the earliest cryptocurrencies, launched in 2012 as a Bitcoin-inspired project built on the SHA-256 hashing algorithm. It holds the distinction of inventing proof-of-stake consensus, making it a foundational influence on modern blockchain design. Unlike Bitcoin, Peercoin has no hard supply cap, instead targeting a roughly one percent annual inflation rate with a deflationary transaction fee mechanism. The team focuses on developing Peercoin as a secure base layer settlement network, with second layer protocols handling tokens, smart contracts, and high-speed transactions built on top.
