About Polkadot
Polkadot (DOT) is a blockchain interoperability protocol designed to connect multiple specialized blockchains into a unified network. Unlike single-chain platforms, Polkadot uses a central relay chain that coordinates communication and shared security across connected parachains, allowing them to exchange messages and value without requiring trust between parties. This heterogeneous multi-chain architecture means parachains can have unique designs and purposes while benefiting from pooled security. Built by the Web3 Foundation and co-founded by Ethereum co-creator Gavin Wood, Polkadot supports developers through tools like the Substrate framework, making it a foundational layer for the broader decentralized web ecosystem.
