SIBCoin (SIB) is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency originally developed for the Russian-speaking community. SIBCoin uses the Streebog hashing algorithm, a Russian cryptographic standard, setting it apart from most other mineable cryptocurrencies that rely on SHA-256 or Scrypt. This choice reflects its regional identity and commitment to local cryptographic standards. The project supports peer-to-peer transactions and has maintained a mining-based issuance model since its launch.
