Stellar XLM is an open source, decentralized blockchain network designed to facilitate fast and low-cost cross-border payments and asset transfers. Founded by Jed McCaleb in 2014, Stellar bridges financial institutions and individuals by enabling seamless exchanges between fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies. Its native currency, Lumens XLM, serves as an intermediary for multi-currency transactions and helps prevent network spam through minimal transaction fees. Operated by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation, the network uses a distributed exchange and trusted Anchors to connect different currencies, making financial services more accessible globally.
