Storj (STORJ) is a decentralized cloud storage platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. Rather than relying on centralized data centers, it uses a peer-to-peer network where individuals rent out unused hard drive space to store encrypted file fragments. This distributed approach aims to deliver faster speeds, lower costs, and stronger privacy than traditional cloud providers like Amazon S3. Node operators earn STORJ tokens for contributing storage capacity, while users pay with STORJ to store data. Founded in 2014 by Shawn Wilkinson, Storj Labs continues developing the platform with a focus on enterprise-grade decentralized storage infrastructure.
